What is a Psychoanalyst?A psychoanalyst is a psychotherapist who has extra extensive training in treating many mental health disorders. Training to become a psychoanalyst takes years of in-depth study of the human mind. Psychoanalysts look at life patterns and help you to try to understand the underlying reasons that cause them to repeat in your life. By helping you to explore your past, present and future life, they help you to grow to become and accept your authentic self.

Can we talk and see if you are the right therapist for me?Yes, we can. Feel free to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation. We will discuss about your unique needs, my therapeutic approach and whether I would be the right treatment provider for you.
-
What is the first session like?Initial evaluations are generally scheduled for 80 minutes. Weekly sessions are 45 minutes long. The first appointments consist of questions about your current concerns, your past, and what you are looking for in treatment. It is also a way to get a sense of what therapy with me would be like. Sometimes the initial evaluation may require more than one session. The session might feel a bit different. The purpose of the session is for both of us to get a good sense of each other and develop a plan for your treatment. It’s also a good time for you to assess whether you feel comfortable working with me.
-
How often would we meet?We would discuss the cadence of your treatment during the first appointment. We would meet at least twice a week for psychoanalysis, once a week for individual psychotherapy, and couples therapy.
-
How long are the sessions? The initial appointment will last 80 minutes. All other follow-up sessions will last 45 minutes.

How does payment work?If you are an out-of-network client, it means that you are responsible for paying the costs of services. You may pay via credit card or debit card through the portal here. If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be reimbursed a portion of my fees by submitting a “superbill” (a detailed receipt that contains required insurance information) which I am happy to provide you. Please be aware that your insurance provider may choose to cover all, some, or none of these services. Therefore, before your first session, I suggest you contact your insurance company to verify your out-of-network coverage of outpatient mental health services.
-
How do I know if my insurance covers in-network and out-of-network mental health? Please call your insurance company directly by calling the customer service phone number on the back of your insurance card (there is often a separate phone number for mental health or “behavioral health” services information). When speaking with your insurance company, you will want to ask them the following questions: What are my “out-of-network” and "in-network" outpatient mental health insurance benefits? What is my deductible and how much of it have I met? Is it possible to meet with a provider that I choose and submit receipts for reimbursement? What is the process for seeking reimbursement? Are there any limitations on how many services a year that will be covered? What is the coverage amount per therapy session (CPT codes 90834 (45 min))? How long will it take to get my reimbursement? Do I need a referral from a primary care physician? Do my benefits cover telehealth services (online counseling)?
-
Are there any surprise costs? No, there aren't. Please refer to the Good Faith Estimate and No Surprises Act Notice.
-
How long will I have to be in therapy?Therapy is a process that takes place over an extended period of time. There is no specific length of time that is for everyone. What’s important is that you consistently attend your sessions.
